About Us

Engelman’s Bakery was founded in 1983 by Sammy Engelman and his sister, Miriam Engelman Gur-Lavi. Sammy and Miriam have more than 200 years of bakery business in their blood. Their parents ran a bakery in their native Germany before immigrating to New York in 1961. Sammy moved to Atlanta in 1981 and in 1983 opened a full-line retail bakery. The operation gradually evolved into a full-time wholesale business. Sammy and Miriam constructed a state-of-the-art baking production facility in Norcross, Ga., that is AIB International and ASI Food Safety certified, and in 1997 we relocated to Norcross, where we make and distribute all the bread our customers desire.

Our Values

Family: The Engelman’s name extends to people who matter most to us -- our employees, our customers, our partners and our vendors, who we think of as members of our family.

Dependability: Our customers turn to us every day, counting on us to deliver above and beyond each and every time. So that’s exactly what we do.

Quality: The love, craft and excellence we put into our product and service shines through in every delivery and in every bite.

Teamwork: Doing what we do is no easy task, and it takes everyone working together as a team to make it happen, succeeding and celebrating as one.

Tradition: As we grow and innovate for the future, we also remember and honor our past, never losing sight of who we are, where we came from and what we believe is right and true.
