KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Chief Data Officer: mobile apps w/ Social Media AI + strategic / hands on current state analysis to build from scratch data footprint w/ cloud tools; including Python for Statistical modeling.

Our client is an information technology company that developed a social networking application that enables optimized search and matching between agents and individuals looking to buy or sell particular types of services. They have built the App according to the latest technological innovations and insight into the particular requirements of these agents, making the lead generation process easier and less costly for agents.

Their combined technological and industry-specific expertise to create an app that promotes these agents rather than the services to clients. The app contains features that allow the self-promotion of said agents. Their mission is to empower these agents, creating bonds that will build trust in the transaction process, and make service searches easier and more personalized.

Previously headquartered in Hong Kong, they are moving its base to US. The company is expected to be listed on Nasdaq before the end of year.

They/we are searching for a Chief Data Officer to lead the strategic / technical vision and execution of data strategy / tools to drive market penetration (downloads / users for our mobile apps), monetization, and top-line growth.

Reporting to the CEO this position has both strategic and tactical aspects. The strategic portion involves recommending third party technical products/solutions that will improve our efficiency, scalability, and performance. The tactical portion involves hands-on leadership, working with technical leads, to execute the roadmap on-time with high quality, and a great user experience.

The successful candidate should have a track record of communicating at all levels of the organization and driving the successful execution of data analytics, AI, & ML across our B2B / B2C mobile application that leverages Social Media AI.

What you'll do:

  • Collaborate with leadership and global engineering to understand the current data landscape with the goal to build out a data strategy that includes architecting a cloud-based warehouse with improved data analytics / AI / ML capabilities.
  • Oversee our Data Warehouse / Data Analytics / AI (including Social Media AI) / ML from a technical perspective, having accountability for recommending innovative technology to improve the performance, scalability, and maintainability while also driving roadmap execution.
  • Retain, hire, & grow a regionally dispersed global team. Implementing engineering best practice processes and metrics to improve efficiency/effectiveness of your team while also providing visibility to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide estimates on the time required to implement roadmap capabilities.
  • Engage closely with Engineering to help determine the best user experience and technical implementation methods as well as a reasonable implementation schedule.
  • Seek opportunities to improve the speed of data ingestion and data quality via automation and machine learning.
  • Resolve roadblocks and escalate to management when appropriate.
  • Executive presentations at investor meetings (about future roadmap / growth of the company).



What you'll need:
First and foremost, the Head of Data Analytics & AI will be accountable and responsible for driving Real's go-forward data technological evolution along with the execution of our data roadmap.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
    • Prefers one in Statistics, Math, Economics, Computer Science or Business.
    • Bonus points for top schools (for your degree specialty).
  • An MBA is preferred.
    • Bonus points for top schools (for your degree specialty).
  • A good mix of enterprise and startup experience where you can be nimble, hands on, but also can help us grow to scale.
    • FAANG company experience is definitely a plus.
  • Strong data leadership spanning data warehouse architecture (cloud-based), data analytics, AI, ML, and data governance.
    1. Must include doing so for mobile apps w/ Social Media AI.
    2. A background in LBS (location-based services) for mobile apps / data is preferred.
    3. Experience w/ LTV & monetization is preferred.
    4. Ability to do a current state analysis, then research / evaluate / recommend / implement technologies spanning DW, BI, AI, & ML needed
    5. A hands-on approach to leading your team, while you won't be writing code, you're comfortable diving into the code with your team to troubleshoot a performance problem or lead them through a new architecture/design.
    6. Ability to get the most out of your team by providing strong technical leadership, clear direction, and motivation
    7. Track record of creating a large-scale scalable data platform in data-intensive environments and determining third party technologies to integrate into the technology stack.
    8. Experience driving transformational change through technology innovation (recommendation of third-party products and their integration into the data platform)
    9. Strategic thinker with a strong technical grounding and the ability to receive input from many data points and determine a clear plan of action
    10. The ability to build out a cloud based DW (w/ AWS) very helpful.
    11. Familiarity with Python for statistical analysis/modeling also very helpful.
    12. Familiarity with Machine Learning methods such as unsupervised learning w/ K-Means helpful.

  • Strong communication skills while being comfortable communicating data roadmap / technologies to everyone from CEO, engineering, department heads, investors, and to individual contributors on your team
  • Ability to thoughtfully and clearly explain the reasoning for your decisions
  • Experience working across departments to drive action / change
  • Strong focus on the customer (B2B and B2C) and a clear understanding of the customer problems we're leveraging technology to solve (driving monetization efforts across our platform while increasing our user base) .
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented.
  • Prefers someone be fully or partially onsite in Costa Mesa. (Commutable distance preferred, but someone willing to travel/fly in welcome to apply. Expected 20% travel.
  • Flexible schedule to work w/ our global teams required. (We have a team in Hong Kong.)
