As a Lead Software Engineer at NielsenIQ you’ll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies, This role will require the individual to be very hands-on in developing software and also be able to guide the rest of the team. The individual will be required to manage the day-to-day activities of the team. This job will need effective communication with product managers and leadership across multiple geographies.

As a Lead Software Engineer at NielsenIQ you’ll be part of a team of smart, highly skilled technologists who are passionate about learning and prototyping cutting-edge technologies, This role will require the individual to be very hands-on in developing software and also be able to guide the rest of the team. The individual will be required to manage the day-to-day activities of the team. This job will need effective communication with product managers and leadership across multiple geographies.
What You’ll Do
- Design and architect new single-page web applications and develop key system features.
- Explore and evaluate technologies to advance our software as a service platform and grow our business
- Lead a team that will execute projects from beginning to end, including working with product management, gathering requirements, brainstorming solutions, building final applications and testing.
- Delegate tasks to team members matching their individual experience to the task to promote engagement, learning and probability of success.
- Supply practical technical guidance to your product manager partner to increase the odds of overall project success.
- Troubleshoot technical issues as they appear
- Escalate technical issues affecting activities outside of your team.
- Enforce community best practices and team SDLC guidelines
- Work with your QA lead partner to ensure the overall quality of project deliverables.
- Mentor more junior developers and encourage senior developers to mentor as well.
- Work closely with architects, and other teams to design and implement cross functional requirements
- Lead design and code reviews encouraging participation of your team members
- Master’s or bachelor's degree in software engineering or related discipline
- 6 years of software development / engineering experience
- Programming in Java
- Experience with microservice development is a plus
- Programming with JavaScript frameworks like Angular
- Experience with non-relational databases like MongoDB is a plus
- Experience with IaaS & PaaS from a cloud vendor is a plus. Azure preferred.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
