JDC Entwine has an exciting opportunity for an adaptable coordinator who has a passion for student engagement, travel, and Jewish enrichment. As a Student Outreach Coordinator (SOC), you will work on the inaugural Entwine “KAHAL” Student program, responsible for engaging students in Jewish life worldwide when they study abroad. The Student Outreach Coordinator will recruit and engage students on various college and university campuses, both remotely and in-person. The Student Outreach Coordinator will also implement Entwine’s engagement methodologies and various other program initiatives and will supervise Entwine campus leaders.

This role will engage prospective Jewish study abroad students in the Entwine “KAHAL” program offerings that would benefit them during their time abroad. They will also be a full part of our vibrant and tight-knit team, with frequent and teamwork with colleagues across the USA.

This is an ideal role for a recent graduate or early career professional who is excited by travel, constant interaction with students, Jewish global community building and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and creative team. Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally 1-3 weeks/year required.

What will you do as a Student Outreach Coordinator?

Student Program Oversight

  • Oversee the Entwine Campus Representatives Program, managing a cohort of campus leaders across the USA whose goal it is to promote Entwine programs on campus
  • Travel regularly to various campuses and other domestic locations to act as an ambassador for Entwine and recruit students before a study abroad experience
  • Work closely with the Engagement team to design and recruit for Entwine’s engagement programs for students and young adults. Work with the National Outreach Manager to establish specific goals and evaluate progress on an ongoing basis
  • Manage relationships and uphold partnership agreements with important campus partners and organizations within your geographic region including Hillel, Chabad, Study Abroad offices and other campus partners
  • Attend conferences and seminars to advance Entwine’s international partnership network

Domestic Partnerships

  • In conjunction with the Director of Engagement, implement processes for student identification, including collecting and storing data
  • Interface with a broad range of stakeholders, including team members, staff in other departments, vendors and participants
  • Attend Leadership Trainings and Retreats (Community Reps & Trip Chair Trainings)
  • Be a JDC Entwine expert by maintaining a high-level of knowledge of the department’s goals and programming
  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of JDC’s overseas programs

What qualifications do you need to be a Student Outreach Coordinator?

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication and relational skills for constant interaction and engagement with students and partners; patience and “customer-orientation” are a must
  • The ability to communicate effectively and thoughtfully with people from varying backgrounds and cultures
  • Prior peer engagement, leadership, and logistics experience, either formal (jobs, internships, fellowships) or informal (extracurriculars, volunteering); e.g. student government and club roles, camp counselor, resident assistant, teacher, project manager
  • Be comfortable with remote meetings across time zones using video calling platforms
  • A serious work ethic combined with a sense of humor and an outgoing, approachable and sociable engagement style
  • Entrepreneurial instincts, including proactivity, problem-solving skills and follow-through
  • Self-motivation and team-orientation, capable of working on one’s own as well as within a team environment
  • Ability to work in flexible locations when necessary, and with occasional flexible hours necessary to complete objectives
  • Experience working with diverse student and young adult populations preferred, but not essential
  • A commitment to pluralism and willingness to act as a role model and mentor for emerging Jewish adults
  • Strong computer skills, including expertise with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Prioritization skills, able to quickly adapt to shifting priorities on multiple projects
  • Experience facilitating conversations, programs, or events a plus.
  • Passion for humanitarian work and/or global Jewish service strongly preferred

Additional Details

  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:45 AM – 4:45 PM
  • Location: Hybrid from New York or remote from Boston, MA or Washington, DC
  • Reports to: Director of Engagement
  • Job Function/Department: Entwine
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally 3-4 weeks/year required

What are the compensation and benefits for a Program Coordinator?

This a full-time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $50,000-$56,000 per year; in determining where a candidate falls in that range JDC considers several factors, including skills and experience, internal equity, and cost of living in location of work. This role is non-exempt per the FLSA.
