The Senior Clinical Program Manager is a critical member of the Women’s Health team within UnitedHealthcare’s Value Creation Strategy team. This role will be responsible for project management and oversight of complex clinical programs under the guidance of the Clinical Program Director and Designer and in collaboration with internal and external teams.

This role will require a methodical and critical thinking mindset with the ability to handle multiple priorities as well as the ability to drive implementation of initiatives and monitor existing programs with the support from Enterprise executive leaders to operational support teams. Primary Responsibilities:

Initiative Implementation and Oversight

  • Implement of initiatives that have a variety of approaches and requirements in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Independently lead multiple large, highly complex initiatives by defining scope, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, cost-benefit analysis, process flows, facilitation, and other areas of expertise based on established project management techniques
  • Build and develop relationships across teams to ensure effective support and feedback loops and that deliverables are met
  • Collaborates with appropriate individuals to provide required documents for committee and/or governance meetings
  • End to end owner of project management responsible for completing all implementation activities as assigned
  • Strategic use of problem-solving skills to help inform business partners on how to make decisions to move implementation forward
  • Proactive identification and management of complex operational and financial performance risks and barriers (pre-implementation and post-deployment)
  • Clinical vendor relationship oversight and ongoing management of program operations
  • Leverage historic experience to drive enterprise alignment in vendor relationship oversight tactics and apply best practices towards management of new programs

Partnership Skills

  • Develop and maintain solid relationships with internal teams and external vendors
  • Ability to navigate LOBs to deploy programs
  • Manage day-to-day relationship with program team to drive performance excellence, promote best practices and seek solution-oriented initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-segment and cross-functional partners and key stakeholders to resolve issues and implement solutions

Quantitative Analysis

  • Develop and analyze Key Performance Indicators for specific clinical programs to define timelines and documentation necessary for financial compliance and performance
  • Manage compliance with financial goals are being met and reports to confirm compliance
  • Monitor compliance and collaborate to mitigate compliance issues and outcome degradation
  • Prepare reports for assigned clinical programs for Joint Operating Committees, Team Leadership and Executive Sessions
  • Be able to link the expected affordability results to every part of the implementation and scope of the program and explain how the execution can affect that affordability
  • Evaluate data from the analytic teams to correlate the expected affordability results to the operational reality of the program
  • Drive operational team reviews to determine FTE needs and costs

Research Skills

  • Assist with the research necessary to analyze innovative ideas regarding implementation of clinical programs in pipeline
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to research ad hoc operational, system and/or technology-related program issues; identify root cause and implement proactive solutions

Presentation Skills

  • Create high-quality PowerPoint presentations
  • Speak clearly and concisely on complex problems across a wide range of audiences, including executive leadership
  • Provide regular updates regarding the implementation process, post-deployment monitoring, and clinical programs

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 5+ years of project management experience including tracking, planning projects, working with large data sets, and making data-driven analytical decisions
  • 5+ years’ experience implementing healthcare programs to include:
    • Proven ability to drive, lead and communicate change effectively in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable within the changing environment
    • Ability to make strategic, operational and administrative decisions in response to emerging conditions and environmental circumstances
    • Ability to provide recommendations and insight regarding improvements to internal and external processes
    • Sound strategic, analytic and critical thinking skills with proven ability to use clinical, administrative and claims data to identify opportunities; inform program design, and measure process, clinical and financial outcomes.
  • Ability to work with Agility team to design, build, and implement IT support for clinical programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently (both verbal and written) at multiple levels of large, complex organizations.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Clinical background or deep experience in implementing clinical programs
  • Clinical experience in women's and children's health or related field
  • Master’s degree

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $136,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $97,300 to $136,900.
