Product Management Intern - Roofing

Plans, organizes, and controls an assigned product or product line(s) from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives by performing the following duties under the direct supervision of the Product Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Gathers market intelligence to identify growth opportunities for the company and assigned product(s). Entails investigation into overall market trends, customer needs and competition. Customer interviews, tradeshows, industry organizations, etc. are all methods of obtaining market intelligence. Develops and maintains a prioritized list of customer and market requirements for new and existing product(s). Develop strategies for assigned product(s) to execute growth opportunities identified with market intelligence. May include but is not limited to establishing new visions for the product(s), developing and executing key objectives, product positioning and price adjustments
  • Prepares product development objectives and schedules for all phases of product development and introduction to market. Coordinates technical product development, estimates of potential profits, and release to production.
  • Manages day-to-day support of the product line.
  • Coordinates and develops marketing, sales and manufacturing plans for new and existing product(s).
  • Identifies partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden company's product line.
  • Work with cross functional group to obsolete products that are no longer desired.
  • Works with Supply chain and purchasing on product forecasts and stocking levels
  • Responsibilities will include any and all assignments deemed necessary by management.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0-3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Classes in Marketing and/or Business Management
  • Ability to grasp technical details
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. CAD and/or SAP experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, effective team player, self-motivated, quick learner.
  • Must have interpersonal versatility, well developed business acumen, and highly developed planning, problem solving, negotiating and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, sales and marketing staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Exceptional ability to analyze data and discern trends. Ability to think creatively in order to address customer and product issues.
  • Ability to write/edit reports, business correspondence and marketing collateral. Ability to present information and effectively respond to managers, customers and sales / marketing staff.
  • Does require occasional overnight travel. May also be required to visit Tremco plants and/or customer facilities.
