Plant Manager

Under the direction of the Sr Director of Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is responsible for directing and managing the day-to-day functioning and long-term improvements of the injection molding operations.


Essential Functions:

  • Strong injection molding expertise to deliver the optimal results. Technically capable of mentoring production on best practices within injection molding
  • Develop a strong lean culture within the manufacturing environment. Support and help lead I4.0 initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate workflow and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Continually Improve plant quality performance. Align resources to focus on the highest priority improvements.
  • Assist in determining root cause of customer complaints related to production and develop plans to eliminate errors.
  • Build a high functioning team that properly supports manufacturing operations. Focus on development for individuals’ growth.
  • Foster a plant culture of teamwork and develop a highly engaged workforce.
  • Develop short- and long-term succession planning for the plant.
  • Follow production schedules to meet customer demand, while minimizing inventory investment.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate PPE in the required areas of operation.
  • Drive continual improvements in safety performance.
  • Monitor and report key production metrics to senior management and develop new metrics as needed.
  • Ensure the team achieves manufacturing targets. Develop actions plans for targets that are off track.
  • Prepare required production, staffing, financial, etc. reports as required.
  • Support the overall organizational strategy by executing components of manufacturing strategy within the plant.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels within all assigned departments. Identify future staffing needs.
  • Ensure the development and training of staff on standard work instructions and work procedures.


Other Functions

  • Responsible for time and attendance, completing performance/competency evaluations, competency/training logs, provide feedback, motivations, and disciplinary actions for employees in assigned departments
  • Assist the Director of NA Manufacturing on the molding capacity plan, capital budget, and operational budget. Identify current and future needs
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)

  • Prior injection molding experience/knowledge of best practices
  • Strong background in continuous improvement, six sigma/lean, experience, and aptitude in I4.0
  • Good communication, oral and written
  • Automotive experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience in manufacturing management
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to travel by car and air, domestically
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and on weekends
  • Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and adequate insurance.
