Operations Manager
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility including hiring, training, and scheduling facility maintenance staff. They will assist with inventory and budget control. This position is responsible for the successful delivery of all aspects of the ice events in order to guarantee a safe, clean facility. Responsible for the maintenance of the facility’s ice, equipment, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems. This position is not eligible for remote work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the General Manager with the day-to-day business aspect of managing the operations of the facility
- Controls inventory of operation equipment
- Responsible for keeping the building appearance up to company standards
- Supervising duties also include changeovers, ice installation, and ice removal
- Manages building preventative maintenance, tasks, and projects
- Consistently productive in leading staff, resolving issues, adding to the task list, and driving quality workmanship, personally and with other staff
- Works with third-party contractors on related maintenance of the building and site
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality customer service
- Communicates mechanical repair needs to the Engineering department in a timely manner
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be able to hire, train, and schedule direct reports
- Responsible for identifying and assigning work orders to staff
- Assist the General Manager with budget control and capital expenditure needs
- Ensures facility readiness and smooth operation of events
- Ensures a safe environment for all patrons and employees by following the life safety and emergency program
- Performs manager-on-duty responsibilities as needed
- Implements and practices facility regulations, policies, and procedures
- Anticipate problems and recommends appropriate solutions
- Provide clear, concise, and timely communication
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience supervising changeovers in a multi-sport entertainment facility
- Knowledge of day-to-day ice rink business
- Supervision and staff management skills
- Working knowledge of electrical circuits, outlets, lighting, and lighting ballasts
- Knowledge of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and 12v vehicular systems
- Knowledge of HVAC with the ability to change filters, belts, bearings, etc.
- Some experience with landscape irrigation
- Basic plumbing knowledge
- Experienced in ice maintenance and installation
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Required certificates - OSHA 10 Hour general industry, Ammonia Safety, Crowd Management.
- Experience driving forklifts, scissor, and boom lifts
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Able to work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness and desire to learn multiple areas of the sports and entertainment business
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
