POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President will lead the Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store, Big Data, and Reporting initiatives for the UTSW Enterprise Data Warehouse and will be responsible for enhancing the existing enterprise data warehouse as well as implementing next-generation analytic capabilities. This role will be responsible for all leadership and technology aspects of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) associated with Business Intelligence (BI), Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store (ODS), Big Data, and Reporting. He/she will have hands-on involvement in designing and implementing BI, Data Warehouse, ODS, and Big Data architecture.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, technology, mathematics, or related field, required. Ten (10) years managerial/leadership experience managing multiple technical projects with mid-sized to large teams and knowledge of multiple Business Intelligence solutions required.
Master's degree and prior healthcare experience preferred. Fifteen (15) or more years related technical experience strongly preferred.

JOB DUTIES
  • Oversees the creation of institutional-level dimensions and data model for academic, clinical and administrative functions.
  • Participates in Governance and Steering Committees for the EDW.
  • Maintains enterprise data dictionary. Stewards EDW data
  • Maintains technical infrastructure. Ensures security and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Vets data definitions for new system implementation.
  • Provides menu of services available to business owner groups. Prioritizes and facilitates data requests from other non-business owner groups.
  • Implements changes that lead to continuous improvement in customer service. Maintains breadth and depth of knowledge in cutting edge technology and leverage enterprise and industry best practices.
  • Manages utilization of various resources to maintain maximum efficiency and meet performance objectives.
  • Responsible for design, execution, and effectiveness of system of internal controls, which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and financial information is reliable.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
