Job Description

Our Buffalo Grove, Illinois Client, has been in business for over 35 years and provides technical support solutions for companies in retail, grocery, restaurant, and similar environments. We're looking for an on-site Shipping Supervisor who will oversee and coordinate order procurement (with other department leaders in the logistics team) to ensure all customer requirements are met.

Provide leadership and supervision of shipping employees, including scheduling, to ensure all open orders are prepared, shipped, and received on time.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Participate in hiring and training new personnel for the company's shipping department.
    2. Delegate workload throughout the department to assure the staff is effectively utilized.
    3. Coach, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the staff using established and communicated expectations, measurements, and feedback. Take appropriate corrective action.
    4. Read shipping orders and other documents to determine priorities and shipping methods needed to meet schedules.
    5. Ensure the correct assets are picked and scanned into the ship orders.
    6. Develop and ensure best practices are used to pack and protect the products shipped and that shipping documents are created and maintained accurately. BOLs, Return Air Bills, Transfer Tags, and associated documents.
    7. Identify opportunities for enhancement and develop improvement plans to increase efficiency in the shipping operations.
    8. Inspect loading operations to make sure that they comply with shipping specifications.
    9. Lead and coordinate special projects as assigned and perform shipping duties as needed, including driving a forklift if necessary.
    Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 5 years of warehouse experience with a minimum of 5 years leading a team of 5+ employees is required.
    • Must have experience with freight company procedures, including FedEx and UPS.
    • Excellent organization, planning, and administration skills.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Functional computer skills in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
    • Physically able and willing to climb a ladder and lift 50 lbs.
    • Forklift Certification is a plus but not required.
