About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer for the Control team within Commercial Banking Control supporting Middle Market Banking. The Control team is responsible for partnering with their relevant business group to develop and maintain a strong control environment leading to the early identification and sustainable mitigation of operational risk. The team focuses on five areas: Risk Identification & Assessment, Control Design & Evaluation, Issues & Control Deficiencies, Control Governance & Reporting, and Control Programs.
A Lead Control Management Officer develops and maintains partnerships with the business process owner by consulting and providing expertise in the control design to effectively mitigate risks on more complex regulatory compliance related rules, laws, and regulations, including design of effective means of measurement. Supports the business with implementation, validation of control effectiveness, and control evaluations. Develops and implements control monitoring and reporting processes. The Lead Control Management Officer is a key partner to the Business in identification control gaps or emerging risk that may result in Issues and Corrective Actions, as well as participating as a critical partner in creating controls to close gaps. This role interacts with peers across Commercial Banking businesses and Control, and is active in RCSA.

In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives designed to mitigate current and emerging risks with broad impact
- Act as key participant in monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the impact of decisions practiced in Control Management functional area
- Monitor moderately complex business specific programs, and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk-mitigation strategies
- Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area
- Develop and implement risk monitoring and risk reporting processes and controls
- Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations, and provide guidance in developing and implementing risk-mitigating strategies
- Lead Control Management project or virtual teams
- 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Strong working knowledge of Commercial Banking/Middle Market, its products and services, and relevant risk and controls of the business
- Experience in supporting one or more areas of risk including, Credit Risk or Market Risk, Operational Risk, Model Risk and Compliance for Business Control Management (BCM) roles aligned to these groups within Corporate Risk.
- Experience in designing, monitoring and or remediation of controls
- Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and Issue Management experience
- Ability to identify risk and controls and conduct root cause analysis to create remediation plans, remediation success criteria and control documentation.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal); ability to concisely articulate complex concepts in a clear manner. Ability to translate technical language into plain business language.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and achieve goals in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Ability to consult, build, and maintain solid working relationships in and outside of immediate department
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance controls and risk
- Ability to influence and drive initiatives through team members who report to others
- A BS/BA degree or higher or equivalent experience
- Ability to identify and evaluate exposures and potential risks; ability to provide credible challenge to the business and adapt quickly through research and analysis
- Hands on style; proven ability to execute and achieve targeted results and develop and manage associated goals and plans on time and with high quality
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to interact and lead complex discussions comfortably with senior levels of management
- Ability to work independently.
