What You Will Be Doing

Tasks May Include (but Are Not Limited To)

The chosen Controller will be responsible for maintaining an organized accounting file system. Responsibilities will include analyzing financial data, developing reliable projections, and providing financial recommendations for future decisions.
  • Assist the VP in ensuring budget and financial goals are fulfilled through the compilation of quarterly or yearly financial reports
  • Ascertain proper management of accounts receivable/payable and quick processing of invoices and payments
  • Routinely check ledger activity and guarantee accuracy
  • Manage day-to-day accounting matters and monthly close of the corporate entities
  • Prepare and review monthly closing journal entries and reconciliations
  • Review property level financials provided by property managers
  • Responsible for timely and accurate accounting and reporting of property-level activities
  • Record consolidation/elimination entries and prepare consolidated financial statements and analytics
  • Assist VP to oversee treasury, AP functions, general accounting, and internal entity close
  • Assist VP to develop and implement procedures to increase efficiency of the overall accounting department and accuracy of the closing process
  • Act as liaison for external auditors on year-end audit requests
  • Act as liaison for external tax preparer to ensure timely filing
  • Prepare investor reports
  • Act as positive and influential mentor to department staff
What You Need for this Position

5+ years of public/private accounting experience with an emphasis on commercial real estate and:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • CPA (Active)
  • Knowledge of property level accounting and financials
  • Strong general accounting skills and GAAP knowledge
  • Prior experience using Yardi and/or similar accounting software
  • Prior experience with budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis
  • Ability to delegate and hold others accountable
  • MS Office Suite proficiency and STRONG Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables)
  • Prior experience with preparation and review of waterfall calculations
  • Strong organizational skills and deadline management
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Willingness to work on-site
