ORGANIZATION

The Colossian Forum (TCF) is dedicated to equipping Christians to display the beauty of Christ right at the heart of our most painful conflicts, teaching believers to talk, discern, and act together as Christians in faithful ways that our divided world can no longer imagine. To that end, TCF has fine-tuned an innovative yet proven process for helping the church face into the challenges stemming from cultural conflicts like politics, sexuality, and human origins. Through thought-leadership and programmingincluding public events, small-group sessions, leader training, and intentional relationshipswe prove that divisive issues can become catalysts for intergenerational discipleship and witness.

OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a passionate, relational, missional, and highly motivated Vice President (VP) of Advancement to guide TCF into our next stage of growth as we aim to spread our message to a wider audience, leading to deeper missional and financial engagement. TCF has a faithful base of both individual donors and foundation partners, and the right candidate will be poised to bring TCFs advancement work with major partners to the next level. Tasked with crafting and executing an organization-wide funding strategy, the VP of Advancement will have a voice in setting organizational strategy, engaging in high-level meetings with the President, and bringing the whole TCF team into critical advancement work. Further, this position offers the opportunity to bear witness to the growing fruit of the Spirit in peoples lives as the Church is transformed more fully into the likeness of Christ even in the midst of conflict and difference. Working alongside passionate and talented colleagues, the VP of Advancement will have the chance to grow professionally and personally as he/she undertakes purposeful work for Gods Kingdom.


ROLE

In partnership with the President and Chief of Staff, the VP of Advancement will oversee and execute TCFs fundraising efforts to achieve annual revenue goals as defined in the organizations strategic plan. Through an integrated approach, the VP of Advancement will manage all activities and programs related to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of funding relationships in support of TCFs mission.

To be successful in this role, the VP of Advancement will have demonstrated excellent strategic fundraising skills, be a detailed and persuasive writer, maintain a consistent and devoted work ethic, and be able to cast a vision for achieving annual revenue goals through a systematic and consistent approach. This person will be adept at balancing multiple priorities and competing deadlines, while focusing on the organizational goals and desired outcomes. An ideal candidate for this role will also be adept at managing TCFs fundraising plan through the establishment, tracking, and monitoring of key performance indicators.


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Primarily, the VP of Advancement will be responsible for TCFs strategy to develop and cultivate a growing and sustained network of major supportersgrantors, foundations, major donors, and others. He/she will also craft a strategy to continue cultivating a strong base of individual donors. Finally, the VP of Advancement will be responsible for coordinating across the organization to sustain a year-over-year funding strategy that aligns with TCFs ongoing funding initiatives in programming, fees for service, and resource sales.

These responsibilities will be achieved primarily through the following essential functions:

  • Develop, refine, and execute TCFs integrated advancement strategy for all segments, focusing on major partnerships and grants (primary activity one);
  • Set overall donor development strategy, including oversight and execution of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and retention (primary activity two);
  • In collaboration with the President and Chief of Staff, establish fundraising goals with well-defined objectives, action steps, and performance indicators for each segment to achieve the annual integrated advancement plan, taking into account other revenue sources;
  • Work with the Communications and Advancement Officerto oversee grant proposals and reports, coordinate giving appeals, and maintain the donor database;
  • Work with the VP of Partnerships to execute digital grass-roots donor campaigns;
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of TCFs programming and impact to better promote the organization to donors and ignite a passion for TCFs mission;
  • In coordination with the President, manage all major donor asks;
  • Oversee the rigorous tracking of all donor interactions, budgets, expense reports, or other data related to fundraising activities;
  • Be current in best practices within non-profit philanthropy, educating and inspiring staff and board members for optimal engagement; and
  • Travel regionally and nationally up to 20% of the time.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A deep resonance with TCFs mission, as well as a disposition for ongoing learning related to the organizations mission and purpose;
  • Strong Christian faith and character, and agreement with TCFs Statement of Faith as stated in the Nicene and Chalcedonian Creeds;
  • Strong advancement/development background and expertise, with a readiness to develop and deploy an overarching strategy;
  • A passion for working on behalf of the Church, with an unshakable belief in the Churchs potential to be winsome in an increasingly uninviting world;
  • Bachelors degree or above, and two years of proven experience working in a culture of excellence and achievement;
  • Strength in organization, execution, and follow-up, with a proven ability to partner with senior leadership to align organizational priorities and measure success;
  • Superior interpersonal communication and writing skills with a gift for clearly discussing complex issues in ways that energize listeners;
  • Strong listening skills to hear donors and other stakeholders passions and an ability to connect those passions to TCFs mission;
  • High self-motivation, accountability, and ability to make decisions independently;
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including occasional nights and weekends; and
  • Proficiency in or ability to learn Microsoft Office suite and non-profit database management (preferably Salesforce).
