Job Title: Metallurgy Technician

Location: Niskayuna NY 12309

Duration: 12+ Month Contract (Possible extension)

Job Description

• Work with scientists and engineers to support the development of metallurgical processes and alloys.
• Prepare and image samples using standard metallographic techniques, including cutting, mounting, polishing, etching and optical and SEM microscopy.
• Run and maintain specialized heat treatment equipment, including calibration and operation of cyclic oxidation furnaces. Work with scientists and engineers to coordinate machining of test bars and fixtures. Document and report data and observations from all work.

Requirements:

• Must have an Associate degree in an engineering, technology, or science discipline.
• Experience in metallography practices, including handling of chemical etchants, sample polishing and optical metallography.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
