Job Description
Angel’s Envy is a fast-growing brand with a beautiful distillery located in the heart of downtown Louisville that attracts visitors from around the country. We are expanding our distillery visitor center which includes the addition of new bar and event spaces. This is an opportunity to lead an all-new bar team that is going to set the standard for distillery craft cocktails in downtown Louisville.
The Angel’s Envy Lead Cocktail Specialist will act as a bar team leader, reporting to the Bar Manger. They will lead by example in all aspects of Finishing & Toasting Room bar procedures, including behavioral and operational standards as set forth by the Bar Manager, Bacardi, and Louisville Distilling Company. They will be responsible for proper execution of cocktail menu selections, service, cleaning, and prep tasks. The Lead Cocktail Specialist will work closely with the Bar Manager to adhere to budgetary goals. This position will work closely with other leadership positions from the Tour and Retail operations departments within the visitor center. This position will also assist with training and educational goals. They must show the utmost care for providing our guests with a premium educational experience and unrivaled hospitality. This role must maintain an exceptional eye for organization and cleanliness and be willing to hold team members accountable in maintaining their respective duties.
This is a full-time role that requires a flexible schedule of both daytime and evening availability. This is a leadership role that will require participation in leadership meetings, bar planning meetings, and budgetary check-ins.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a bartender in a modern craft cocktail environment
- Experience both in classic and seasonal cocktail building, concepting, and design
- Basic Excel and computer skills required
- Must be able to produce from memory no less than 100 Classic or Modern Classic cocktails
- Intermediate knowledge of spirits, wine, and beer
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for long periods
- Must be able to quickly and efficiently multitask under pressure
- Willing to obtain Kentucky Serving Training in Alcohol Regulations (STAR)
- Willing to obtain Louisville Metro Food Manager Certification
- Full availability
Preferred
- Experience as a Head Bartender or other bar leadership position
- Desire to expand knowledge of all things bar-related, from spirits to wine to beer to technique to hospitality to leadership skills
- Desire to grow within a brand and take on new and challenging tasks or roles
- Proficiency with de-escalation techniques and handling intoxicated guests
JOB DUTIES
- Exemplify leadership and exceptional mindfulness and care in all aspects of Angel’s Envy brand and Finishing & Toasting room operations.
- Assist Bar Manager in training of new hires
- Properly handle any guest complaints or incidents in absence of Bar Manager
- Assist Bar Manager with weekly and monthly inventory
- Evaluate par levels for all items related to the bar program and inform Bar Manager of daily bar needs. Place orders as directed by Bar Manager.
- Use POS inventory system to track inventory, orders, and depletions as well as manage backend cocktail recipe selection
- Act as lead bar contact in absence of Bar Manager during events.
- Work with Events Manager and Coordinators to build event menus, prepare space for event, and adhere to run of show
- Be aware of all emergency and safety measures as set forth by EHS Coordinator
- Coach Cocktail Specialists in preparation of cocktails, cocktail ingredients, and cocktail design.
- Ensure that opening and closing procedures are fully completed each shift.
- Assist Bar Manager in leading cocktail menu design and development.
- Teach cocktail classes, lead other events, and assist Bar Manager in Advocacy activations as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of all available inventory items as well as all menu cocktails and related ingredients
- Be able to educate and guide other Cocktail Specialists through the available items in inventory
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations.
- Be knowledgeable in preparation of alternative non-alcoholic beverages that mirror the quality of our alcoholic offerings
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment and facilities.
- Maintain highest standards of health, sanitation, and cleanliness within all areas of the Brand Home.
