Bilingual Spanish Benefits Service Representative - AC

Established company in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Bilingual Spanish Benefits Service Representative.

Pay: $60-75K

Responsibilities:
  • Attend meetings with plan participants, local union officials, or employers to discuss and explain plan participation requirements, eligibility conditions, and benefits provided, or other plan provisions as requested
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Manager and/or Manger, schedule periodic visits to local union offices to meet with individual participants to explain their eligibility rights, provide written estimates, assist in completing applications for benefits, and provide guidance as to how plan provisions apply to them personally
  • Preparation of all benefit appeals which result from denials; interpret requests in relation to plan requirements, verify or obtain additional documentation, prepare written summary of request for presentation to Benefit Review Committee, and notify plan participant or other interested parties of the decision
  • Review and obtain additional information, if necessary, and finalize all requests for benefit information generated by field interviews
  • Respond to written and oral communications of individual participants and other interested parties
  • Assist in preparation and processing of applications involving difficult or unusual circumstances
  • Review denial determinations to confirm that claim should in fact be denied, or whether additional information should be obtained which may perfect the claim; prepare formal denial letter, citing plan requirements and appeal procedures
  • Conduct individual and group meetings at Local Union offices
  • Review eligibility and other issues relating to retirement with Pension Plan participants
  • Prepare formal denials, general correspondence, and benefit appeals
  • Provide monthly (or other) reports to Manager to monitor special projects, individual productivity, and work quality
  • Respond to difficult telephone calls and assist in individual participant interviews when necessary
  • Work closely with processing staff to ensure consistency and timeliness
  • Complete special projects for management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint
  • Previous employee benefits administration experience required
  • Ability to travel and work a varied schedule including weekends; occasional weekend and off-hours meetings/presentations
  • Valid driver's license and excellent driving record required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish
