Crisis Support Specialist III
Summary: Crisis Support Specialist III will provide direct care to clients, conduct assessments, and partner with admissions for client placement. The Crisis Support Specialist III will develop Individualized Treatment Plans, provide direct counseling and treatment interventions to children, youth, and adults who are in psychiatric crisis to intervene and stabilize behaviors and prevent psychiatric hospitalization and loss of placement. Assumes a clinical lead in the provision of client services.
Education: A minimum of a Master's Degree in a Human Services field (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.).
Must be licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Health Professions as a Licensed Mental Health Professional Type (LMHP, LMHP-R, LMHP-S, or LMHP-RP).
Experience: Relevant clinical experience providing direct clinical services with mental health diagnoses. Experience in leadership,
supervision and/or training staff.
Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
LEAD SUPPORT
• Lead clinical support for individual & family therapy sessions as designated
• Partner with Crisis One Supervisor and team in providing training and support to new hires.
• May assume supervision of QMHP-E staff or interns as assigned.
• Participate in team meetings.
CLIENT COUNSELING & INTERVENTION
• Provide direct service, including client assessment and documentation.
• May function independently or in partnership with other crisis staff when delivering client care.
• Develop treatment plans based on recommended goals identified in clients' assessments.
• Maintain high quality documentation of all case work, completed in a timely manner, and consistent with outlined program policies and licensure requirements.
• Assume a lead role in the client discharge planning process.
• Initiate and facilitate verbal de-escalation techniques and strategies to assist the client in maintaining self-control.
• Exercise client interventions by the least restrictive option that protects clients from harming self or others. Assess, evaluate and monitor the safety of clients and others at all times.
• Actively engages in service coordination to ensure clients successfully transition to levels of care that appropriately meet their needs.
• Partners with clients and families in developing natural supports necessary to stabilize the psychiatric crisis.
• Assess, evaluate and monitor the safety of the client and others at all times. Notify Supervisor of any significant client medical complaint(s), unusual events, accidents, medical problems, property damage or maintenance concern, etc.
• Provide brief clinical assessment to high-risk clients and trigger next step referrals when necessary.
• Participate in initial and ongoing staff training and/or seminar presentations as requested.
• Provide 24-hour emergency response as assigned.
• May provide other community-based services or assessments such as but not limited to IIH, MHSS, Parenting, or TDT services as needed.
• May provide referral line coverage when designated staff are on leave.
• Other duties as assigned.
