Financial Accountant
Our client in Bee Cave, TX is seeking a Utility Rates and Regulatory Analyst to add to a growing team in the energy industry. Professional level work in the development of utility rates and regulatory matters. This includes preparation of recommendations concerning utility rate cases and other utility projects, and enforcement of Commission rules and orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform intermediate level of accounting/finance activities related to regulatory matters.
• Analyze and prepare regulatory studies and reports related to finance, accounting, and taxation and/or billing.
• Prepare and file governmental/regulatory reports, including tariff compliance.
• Prepare cost-of-service studies and related rate schedules.
• Prepare economic and financial forecasts.
• Assist with developing procedures for acquiring financial and metric information used in rate and regulatory analysis/calculations, including finance, customer billing, and accounting data.
• Accumulate and calculate financial ratios and metrics.
• Perform proof of revenue studies.
• Calculate company rate comparisons.
• Assist with franchise agreement compliance.
• Research company and industry activity and conduct various studies.
• Analyze, evaluate, and prepare management reports.
• Prepare correspondence concerning impact of standards, regulations, and legislation on company operating income, finances, accounting processes, and market position.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Must reside in the greater Austin metro area (no relocation offered for this role)
• 2 to 4 years of related experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or economics. CPA a plus.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and practices.
• Working knowledge of the FERC uniform system of accounts a plus.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel - proficient experience with Pivot Tables.
• Experience reading and interpreting internal and external correspondence, governmental regulations, reports, financial reports, accounting and tax-related publications, contracts, manuals, and computer printouts.
• Experience interacting and communicating effectively.
• Experience developing and presenting information to management, individuals, and groups.
• Experience communicating and/or exchanging information and conducting oral presentations.
• Periodic travel in and around office facilities throughout Texas.
