Job Description

The Managing Director is responsible for the overall daily management of the Saatchi Seattle brand, agency and major client relationships. The Managing Director will closely partner with agency CFO and Global Client Lead (GCL) in managing the day to day agency operations and will establish a strategic vision and business plan to ensure optimum business growth and delivery of superb creative product and financial effectiveness. The Managing Director will be required to collaborate and work seamlessly across multiple groups (departments, accounts, geographies and sister agencies) to ensure business objectives are met.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Performance:
  • Leads and grows the operations ensuring annual P&L targets, business objectives and creative performance in coordination with the CEO, GCL and CFO, including new business wins and all aspects of the business performance, are achieved.
  • Grows existing clients and actively pursues new clients.
  • Develops and grows specialized practices.
  • Provides business leadership to the management team to ensure that the best possible business advice and counsel is available to support effective business decision making and issue resolution.
  • Works with the GCL to develop quarterly business updates for the Management team.
  • Develops a detailed understanding of competitors' service capability to ensure agency performance is consistently ahead of the competitors.
  • Works with internal partners to establish a strategic and long-term vision and direction for the agency.
  • Supports global and regional business initiatives such as diversification, new business, reputation, etc, when required.

Financial Management:
  • Takes responsibility and accountability for the financials
  • Forecasts P&L and/or budget accurately
  • Proactively manages the agency's path to profitability
  • Understands and actively manages key financial metrics
  • Uses financial analysis appropriately to support decision-making

Product:
  • Key client management: to develop a close relationship with key clients and prospects to ensure their needs are understood & satisfied.
  • Manages overall management & operational issues ensuring value-added solutions are recommended to clients and executed effectively.
  • Works with the CCO to ensure that the agency reaches and exceeds Creative product targets including awards and external industry award creative work.
  • Ensures that the creative reputation of the office locally and globally is constantly improved through award entries and fame building work.

People
  • Develops and grows talents ensuring Saatchi Seattle has strong bench strength for future business expansion.
  • Supports appropriate HR strategies to identify/ hire the best talent in the market as well as retain and motivate our best and brightest.


EXPERIENCE
  • At least 15-20 years' solid advertising and relevant management experience (ideally gained with large integrated ad agencies) with outstanding professional advertising and account planning skills and a "passion" for the advertising business.
  • Successful track record in brand management; previous general management experience with demonstrated knowledge of agency financial management.
  • Demonstrable people-management skills with a readiness to motivate and develop staff.
