As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Addison, Texas based firm has a short-term contract / contract / temporary position available, and offers an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.

What you get to do every day

- Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules

- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

- Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

- Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision

- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

- Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

- Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

- Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

- Recent and relevant accounting experience

- Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

- ERP system experience

- General familiarity with Reconcile Vendor Statements

- Enter Vendor Invoices experience

- Deep understanding of Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics

- Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired

- Experience with Subcontractors

- Hands-on experience with Excel Formulas

- Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains Accounting

- Comprehension of construction project accounting

- Account Setup experience highly preferred

- Adeptness in Multiple Vendors

- Earlier work involving Construction Industry

- Background working with payroll

- Microsoft Excel experience preferred

- Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Great Plains eEnterprise

- Microsoft Great Plains Solomon experience highly desired

- Great Plains (GPAC) experience desired

- Construction Industry Experience experience highly valued

- Good understanding of Construction Industry Experience

- Expertise in Enter Vendor Invoices

- Previous experience working with Construction Industry

- Demonstrated knowledge of Process Vendor Invoices

- Manage Vendor Relationships experience

- Foundational knowledge in Maintain Vendor Files

- Practical knowledge of Check Runs

- Prior experience with Microsoft Excel

- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

- Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
