Payroll Clerk

A reputable Robert Half client in the healthcare industry is in immediate need of a talented Payroll Clerk for a 60-90 day contract assignment. This Carlsbad-based role has an opportunity to be a permanent position based on performance in the contract role.

You will play a vital role in helping our client’s payroll department achieve their goals. Please see below for the role’s responsibilities and requirements:

• Understand and report necessary changes to payroll operations by maintaining established policies and procedures
• Answer questions and requests related to payroll information
• Handle specific weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for department heads
• Guarantee company compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines
• Calculate employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments to establish payroll liabilities
• Resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
• Promote employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and keeping information confidential
• Handle payroll record updates by keeping changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
• Review source documents with necessary verification
• Reconciling of employee deductions and other liabilities
• Compile all information in reference to summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages for reports
• Perform any other duties that arise in the course of normal business operations
• Offer assistance with internal and external audits related to payroll
• Collect, calculate, and enter relevant data to maintain payroll records
