Senior Sensor Engineer

Senior Sensor Engineer - Verathon®

Verathon® is looking for a Senior Sensor Engineer to become the newest member of our ISS R&D Team located in Bothell, WA. This is a hybrid role; working 3 days in office and 2 days remotely.

As the Senior Sensor Engineer, you are responsible to discover, design, and develop advanced medical sensors for new devices and applications that leverage both embedded and cloud infrastructures. You will become an internal subject matter expert for sensors and a liaison to external sensor manufacturers and suppliers.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead the discovery, design, and development of advanced device and sensor technologies, including ultrasound transducers
  • Act as lead liaison with external sensor manufacturers and suppliers
  • Collaborate with the Applications Research team on advanced diagnostic concepts and prototypes
  • Support development and operations teams to productize and sustain sensor technologies
  • Coordinate with product planning and management to align technology and product development
  • Act as subject matter expert for Company on sensor technologies
  • Inform and persuade senior management on sensor technologies and applications
  • Develop intellectual property to protect inventions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or equivalent is required
  • 10+ years of relevant industry work experience
  • Expertise in ultrasound technologies, such as piezoelectric and capacitive transducers
  • Experience with engineering design software packages like MATLAB, SolidWorks, PZFlex, SPICE
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, such as abdomen and cardiovascular system
  • Knowledge of medical ultrasound imaging and sensing, including digital signal and image processing
  • Familiarity with embedded and cloud infrastructure for sensor integration
  • Experience in medical device industry is preferred
  • Experience with sensor manufacturers and suppliers is preferred
  • Familiarity with wearable device technologies is preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong communication, technical writing, presentation, and persuasion skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States
