Maintenance Mechanic (1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts)



Job Description

Purpose of Position:

Under general supervision, keeps machinery and equipment in good repair. Examines machines for defects in operation, replaces defective parts, make necessary adjustments to insure efficient operation. Performs general preventative maintenance on equipment along with troubleshooting and performing non-routine repairs when applicable. Works closely with production to ensure equipment is operating at peak performance for safety, quality and productivity. Has sufficient knowledge to install, repair or rebuild equipment and replace ordinary parts as necessary.

Responsibilities:

* Maintenance mechanic maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
* Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
* Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
* Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
* Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
* Repairs electrical systems and equipment by diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures; determining faulty wiring; inspecting and testing malfunctioning machinery.
* Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
* Maintains electrical equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
* Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* Contributes to team effort by communicating clearly and effectively with coworkers and supervisor
* Replaces all safety guards and/or other devices upon completion of all repairs
* Follows all safety rules and procedures including but not limited to LOTO and Electrical safety
* Comply and enforce with all safety policies, practices and procedures within the department. Reports all unsafe activities to supervisor and or Safety Department and assess immediate corrective actions
* Additional job duties as needed and required.



Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are non-exclusive of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

* Decipher hydraulic prints, troubleshoot closed loop servo pump controls, directional valves, proportional valves, relief valves, cartridge valves, check valves, Oil gear and Rexroth pumps (preferred)
* Electrical experience within 480 volt; 3 phase
* Mechanical experience in an industrial facility
* Able to ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
* PLC control systems trouble shooting is a plus.
* Consistent and reliable attendance, ability to work weekend, holidays and overtime if warranted

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of 2 years relevant maintenance experience in an industrial setting.

Language Skills:
* Ability to read and comprehend advanced instructions and present information in one on one or large group situations.
* Ability to interpret documents such as sales orders, quality objectives and safety requirements.

Mathematical Skills:
* Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
* Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills:
* PLC control systems trouble shooting is a plus.
