This role will report to Nugget's CMO with indirect (dotted-line) reporting to Nugget's Chief Creative Officer. In close partnership with the VP of Marketing & Brand Management, the VP of Creative Service will develop strategy and support our Marketing team by overseeing the planning, budget, production, execution, and delivery of creative assets and projects. Additionally, this role will assist in building out their own team of talented Creative Services professionals. If you have experience as a Director / VP of Creative Services and are looking for the next step in your career, excited to roll up your sleeves, and serve as a leader, innovating with a fun and playful brand - we'd love for you to apply!

What is Nugget? We are an industry-leading, fun-loving, furniture company (est. 2014) that seeks to bring bold play and big imaginations into everyday life at home. We design, develop, market, manufacture, sell, and ship our part-toy, part-furniture, four-piece Nuggets all from one location, with a team of ~100 Nuggeteers, in Butner, North Carolina (just outside of Durham). And we're just getting started - in both 2020 and 2021, Inc. Magazine named us the fastest-growing manufacturing company in the United States. We're proud to continue the industrial legacy of North Carolina, and to make kids furniture for growing imaginations.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
  • You'll partner with the CMO, CCO, and VP of Marketing to contribute to high-level strategic planning around Creative and Brand Marketing projects, bringing a fresh and forward-thinking approach to Nugget's creative direction and content for campaigns
  • With long-term strategy in mind, you'll lead and manage Nugget's Creative Services team - planning and executing high-quality assets that support Nugget's Marketing team projects, campaigns, and overall company goals
  • As a priority in your first year, you'll assist in building out and/or managing Nugget's Creative Services team, including but not limited to an Art Director, Creative Project Manager, and our amazing team of Designer/Illustrators
  • You'll develop and maintain the budget for the Creative Services team and projects - owning all resource planning, allocation, and RFP's. You'll assist in performing cost/benefit analysis, negotiating contracts and making high-level decisions regarding outsourcing to studios, as needed, with a focus on resourcefulness
  • You'll work closely with the Chief Creative Officer to gain a deep understanding of Nugget's values, history, and unique style and approach to visual asset planning, and use that specific understanding to consistently push us in new creative directions
  • You'll work with the Creative Project Manager to build Nugget's in-house program of both full-time and freelance coordinators / talent that will produce quality photography and videography content for our Marketing team
  • You'll partner with other key stakeholders at Nugget to develop clear policies, legal documentation, and process improvements for the Creative Services team that will mitigate risk associated with creative production work, ensuring that we are prioritizing the safety and well-being of our company, team, freelancers, and talent
  • You'll approach all Creative Services work with a PR orientation, developing and training your team to ensure that everyone engaged in Creative productions at Nugget represent the brand well
  • You'll manage the creative, visual direction for the Creative Services team at a high level; providing guidance for your team by staying on top of trends in the color, textile, fashion, and furniture space, and predicting future consumer trends to ensure our brand stays a creative leader in our space

*Our compensation philosophy:

Here at Nugget we don't negotiate compensation. This comes from research that shows negotiations often result in arbitrary differences in pay, not based on differences in ability, but based on who is better at negotiating - often to the detriment of women. We like to offer the amount upfront that we believe is very fair for the job rather than offer a lower amount that builds in the expectation for negotiating. To add a bit more context, our process is centered in industry data (we use PayScale), which factors in our stage/size of company, job classification, experience, and skill, to make sure that we have fair and transparent numbers for our regional market.

Equal opportunity:

Nugget is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital or family status, disability, gender identity or expression, veteran status, actual or presumed belonging to an ethnic group, or any other legally protected status. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let us know.
