Job Summary/Purpose : The Assistant Laboratory Manager reports to the Laboratory Manager. Under limited supervision, the Assistant Laboratory Manager is responsible for organizing tasks, coordinating work flow, and evaluating and solving problems. This role interacts with the medical/technical director and manager of the laboratory to establish procedures and policies; assumes managerial authority over numerous functions. This position maintains expertise in testing and methodologies pertinent to the laboratory.

Minimum Training and Education:

Advanced knowledge and skills in a specialty area of Anatomic Pathology required.

A bachelors degree in a science related field

American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification in a related clinical laboratory science

AND a masters degree or completion within three years

AND five years leader experience

AND preferred laboratory operations experience

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: CHT & or CHS Certification in Histocompatibility , blood bank or immunology issued by the ABHI or ASCP Board of Registry or a comparable agency. and certification by ASCP or ASHI. CHS certification required

For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance.
