BLB Design BuildJr. Architectural Designer



BLB Design Build is seeking a recent graduate or student in the later years of their education to handle drafting, design, and office administration for large scale residential remodeling projects. This position can be largely remote, but all applicants need to be within an hour drive of Newburyport for occasional site visits and in-person training. We work with a registered architect and this position will allow you to accrue credit for IDP. All work is done using Chief Architect software, so experience with this program or willingness to learn a new program is required, as is experience with zoom.


The draftsperson/apprentice architect is responsible for gathering information from the sales staff and clients to create accurate drawings for the sales staff to estimate the project. This person is also responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction throughout the design phase and within the means of the contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment and work under tight deadlines, while maintaining high quality standards
  • Prepare 2D and 3D architectural design drawings in all phases as required
  • Perform routine tasks under general supervision using well-defined standards, procedures and codes
  • Perform product research; assist project designers and project architects with materials selection and system research
  • Design new or existing building components and systems to develop or improve them


Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English required
  • BA/BS in Architecture in process or completed is desired
  • 2+ years' Architectural design experience is required
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both in person and in writing is required
  • Basic knowledge of architectural building systems is required
  • Self-motivated personality with the ability to work collaboratively and independently as appropriate in studio environment is required
  • Ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment is required
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines is required
  • Proficiency in Chief Architect is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel program is required



Recommended Credentials: Registered Architect (RA), Certified

Kitchen and/or Bath Designer (CKD, CBD), ASID Interior Designer
