Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Cost Accountant will work with the Director of Finance and senior cost accountant. S/He needs to demonstrate initiative and technical competence to handle duties related to the month-end closing, annual audit, financial reporting, reconciliations and analysis for the Finance Department.

This role works closely with the Operations team and will be a finance contact for the Operations team.

  • Support the monthly close process including accruals, spending allocations, and investigation of any manufacturing variances.
  • Monitor, review and reconcile inventory accounts.
  • Assist with Product Costing Activities.
  • Develop tools and processes to improve the gathering and preparation of financial information to ensure that all submission requirements are met.
  • Coordinate efforts associated with monthly cycle count and periodic physical inventories.
  • Responsible for monitoring, reviewing and closing manufacturing work orders.
  • Perform special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 1 years+ of general accounting experience, cost accounting experience a plus.

Skills And Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • ERP System experience with QAD a plus
  • Accurate and timely financial accounting.
  • Ability to work independently; self-motivated; high bias for action.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to drive businesses to improved processes and performance.
  • Skilled Excel user able to create and maintain complex spreadsheets.
