Summary
Signode, the Transit Packaging division of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) has its global headquarters in Tampa, Florida. Signode is a global leader in transit-packaging with over 80 manufacturing facilities across 6 continents and over 7,000 employees worldwide.
The Signode technology team is comprised of people across the globe leveraging a hybrid operating model of on-premise and cloud-based solutions. The Network Infrastructure team is a global team supporting all sites, data centers, and a global Azure cloud environment. The Network Engineer is responsible to take ownership of key network systems and project deliverables to meet the Corporate, Department and Team Goals. This includes helping in strategy design, supporting operations, documenting process, completing task assignments and engaging with vendors as needed to support the systems and project initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Takes ownership of assigned network systems per project assignment or assigned operational areas and become the subject matter expert (SME)

Design and manage the rollout of various network infrastructures with necessary capacity planning, performance tuning, and configuration optimization

Ensures all systems in ownership are accounted for and documented. (Inventory, Backups, Monitoring, Patching)

Assists in the development of standards around the products of ownership.

Actively participates in Change Management process understanding the risk and impact of any changes made to our underlying customer base.

Ensures all systems under ownership are stable, secure and well maintained.

Brings forth new ideas to simplify, standardize, and strategically align with the corporate goal of One Signode and better supportability.

Assists in the development of short-, medium-, and long-term plans to achieve strategic objectives.

Ensures department objectives are met by interacting regularly across functional areas including senior management or executives as needed.
Qualifications
-
2+ years in hands-on network technology role
-
Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field of study

Familiar with ITIL and ISO best practices
-
Working knowledge and experience managing Azure and hybrid cloud networks (on-premises/off premises/private & public clouds)

5+ years’ experience with DHCP/DNS, LAN/WAN, Virtualization, VLAN’s (iSCSI, Out of Band Networks, IoT), VPN, Security, Systems Management

Proven ability to successfully participate on a globally diverse team and achieve collective goals and objectives

Listening, drawing out key concepts and articulating advanced technical and non-technical concepts with ease (both written and oral formats) to customers, peers, and management at several levels and across the organization with minimal oversight.

Strong interpersonal, customer relationship/partnership and influential skills to facilitate the implementation of efficient business processes
-
Experience with implementing collaboration technologies and other tools that enable a global organization.

Experience in selecting and managing outside vendors who serve outsourced roles in the department
-
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture principles and best practices

Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Other languages a plus.

Some travel is required.

Possesses good overall strength in network fundamentals.

Demonstrates strength in management of defined network device types from Firewalls, Layer 2 & 3 Switches, Routers, Access Points, Network Security Gateway’s, Network Policy Server, Site to Site IPSec Tunnels, Client VPN, and monitoring products.

Possesses a good working knowledge of TCP/IP Networks with a strong understanding of the 7 Layer OSI Model.

Deep understanding of network protocols IPSec, HSRP, SDWAN, QoS, Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), TCP, UDP, etc.

Must have minimum of CCNA or equivalent certification. CCIE preferred.

Acts responsibly in management of operational costs.

Adheres to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between IT and the Business Infrastructure Services.

Responsible for assessing and recognizing environmental risks to the company and notifying management if such cases should arise.

Responsible for implementing SOX compliant changes following the change management process defined to provide governance of Infrastructure Operations.
