Utility Construction Superintendent, Plant
Description/Job Summary
Manages site operations to ensure that production goals and objectives of project are accomplished safely within prescribed time frames and contractual requirements by performing duties personally. Verifies availability and shipment of all necessary material and equipment necessary for project.
Responsibilities/Duties
Develops and maintains a good working relationship with clients, inspectors, material suppliers and subcontractors.
Assist the Project Manager and General Superintendent in developing the project schedule based on the type of work and the necessary crews, equipment, and subcontractors needed.
Assist the project manager with updating the project schedule to ensure the project schedule is being adhered to.
Studies project plans and specifications to establish a plan for construction procedures necessary to complete project in the required time established in the contract documents and under the established budget.
Coordinates daily activities of project team.
Conduct weekly coordination meeting with subcontractors.
Responsible for ordering and delivery of necessary tools, equipment, and materials at required times for work schedule.
Inspects work daily to verify quality of work completed and that it meets requirements of contract documents and is being completed in adherence with contract schedule.
Completes necessary daily and safety reports for project as required by company policy and contract documents.
Project Risk Assessment: Labor Shortages - Productivity Issues - Subcontractor Default/Claims - Health & Safety Hazards; Quality Control, etc.
Basic Surveying: Measuring horizontal distances, reading plan stationing, angles and sides of triangles, vertical measurements, survey level notes, slopes, and grades.
Assists Project Manager in completion of pay request as required by contract documents.
Develop a final punch list and ensure all project tasks are completed.
Responsible for monitoring and compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
Direct and train the Project Engineer, Foremen, and field staff to ensure their continued development by use of performance evaluations, varying assignments, and promoting positive project morale.
Required Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED and four to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensing/Certification:
Abide by T.A. Loving Fleet Driving Policy. Must maintain a valid driver license and safedriving record.
OSHA Training courses as required by the company safety procedures.
