Production / Manufacturing Chemist
Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION
- Assist in the development of new products and processes.
- Manufacture commercial and non-commercial products using established methods or procedures.
- Work to improve production processes to improve yield, efficiency, and throughput.
- Work with large volumes of organic solvents.
- Develop a basic understanding of all available test methods and usage thereof.
- Capable of lifting up to 50lbs
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with supervision on formulating new products using acrylate/methacrylates, urethanes, and other typical monomers.
- Assist in transferring products from R&D to production.
- Trouble-shoot processes to maintain adherence to product reproducibility and quality for availability to scale-up semi-commercial products to commercial scale
- Organized record keeping and distribution
- Respect mutual work areas by keeping work area clean and safe
- Competent in the manufacture of products in all areas.
- Accurately document preparation and experience in scale-up and transfer of R&D projects.
- Support R&D in the development of new products.
- Review and improve processes in the incumbent’s area of expertise.
- Review all production make-sheets and operator checklists for completeness and correctness. Ensure that required data has been entered into the appropriate databases.
- Manage raw material inventories and notify purchasing for supplies as appropriate.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Bachelors Degree in Chemistry/Science or experience in Production related field acceptable
- Ability to understand and follow Standard Operatimg Procedures
- Proficient in comprehensive math skills including basic statistics and algebra
- Computer proficient (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent oral and written communication
