Lab Technician

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, and gaseous materials for such purposes as quality and process control.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up, adjusts, calibrates and operates laboratory equipment and instruments.

• Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment.

• Prepares chemical stock solutions according to standard formulas and samples for testing.

• Tests materials used in processes for the presence and content of elements or substances.

• Tests samples of manufactured products to verify the conformity of specifications.

• Records test results on standardized forms and prepares test reports using MS Excel.

• Follows written standard work instructions and standard operating procedures.

• Performs environmental sample analysis such as TCLP and, test water samples for trace metals and pH.

• Establishes formulation required to meet specifications of materials in process, manufactured products and water and provides instructions of the formulation.

• Complies with all environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping programs.

• Other duties as assigned.

• Environmental training applicable to the job

• Safety training for applicable equipment

• Job instructional training

• Quality system familiarization

• ISO 9001, ISO 14001and OHSAS 18001 awareness. Plant EMS objectives and targets

• Significant environmental air aspects and impacts (plant)

• JTE (Lean manufacturing).
