Staff Accountant

Robert Half is looking to find a talented, efficient Staff Accountant to join an esteemed organization. Your responsibilities as Staff Accountant will include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you'll have responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will look over schedules for the reporting processes, participate in compliance, and keep in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Santa Fe, New Mexico area, this company is offering a long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity that's sure to challenge as well as reward effort.
Your responsibilities
- Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
- Participate in various department-wide initiatives
- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
- Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
- Expertise in Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Credit Card Reconciliation experience
- Account reconciliation experience preferred
- Strong familiarity with general ledger
- Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
- Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
- Skilled with ERP systems
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
