Manager of Retirement Plan Department

Financial Services Firm in the Northwest Suburbs looking to a hire a manager of their 401(k) department.

This manager will oversee 3 Third Party Retirement Plan Administrators and act as their technical resource and people manager. A great opportunity for someone with some leadership experience who is ready to manage a team. This will be a hybrid remote opportunity, half in-office, half remote.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 3+ retirement plan administrators.
  • Aid in conversations regarding plan design, budgeting, and hiring/firing.
  • Consistently provides a high level of customer service in terms of response rate and problem resolution.
  • Performs non discrimination and other testing and providing strategic alternatives for correction of failures and presents options to improve future non discrimination test results.
  • Prepares signature ready Forms 5500 and other government fillings.
  • Effectively communicates the necessary regulatory information and testing requirements to clients in a way that can be easily understood by individuals who are not in the business.
  • Works with internal associates, clients, and vendors to ensure accurate and timely response to all outstanding client/plan issues
Desired Skills And Experience
  • ASPPA Credentials are always appreciated
  • Experience with Datair, FTWilliams and Pension Pro are a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to manage client expectations and provide superior follow-up service.
  • Advanced working knowledge and understanding of retirement plan administration and associated regulations and IRS tax rules.
