Summary/Objective
The Controller is in charge of daily operations of the Accounting Department by performing the following duties in accordance with the company policies and procedures.
Essential Function
- Prepare accurate monthly dealership financial statements and submit the statements to each manufacturer in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines and time frame.
- Active management of cash flow, bank reconciliation, floorplan and A/R accounts
- Partner with the dealership management, CFO and Executive team to interpret, analyze financial results and make recommendations for profit improvement.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies and generally accepted accounting process and to safeguard the dealership’s assets
- Monitoring the company’s financial statements and accounts regularly and informing senior management of developing trends or issues.
- Review company operations and accounts and suggesting areas of improvement and/or where expenses can be reduced.
- Ensure the dealership and its operations are complaint with government regulations and submit accurate and timely reports to government agencies as required by law.
- Keeping up to date with various laws and regulations in regards to tax compliance.
- Supervise the reconciliation of general ledger, bank, reserve, factory payable and floor plan accounts.
- Effectively managing the dealerships’ cash reserves.
- Contribute to the overall success of the dealership group by working with all departments collaboratively and professionally with a positive attitude.
- Provide department managers with a detail of expenses, gross profit analyses, employee productivity reports, and any other information they need to manage their departments. Prepare periodic forecasts with department managers and follow up with forecast to actual reports. Responsible for planning, compilation and reporting of the annual budgeting process with all business partners.
- Active contribution to the company's strategy to become more data driven and work with real time data.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years comparative experience in the Automotive industry
- Strong attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
- CDK, DMS, and strong Microsoft Excel skills are required
- High degree of professionalism
- Strong sense of pride in work product and a demonstrated willingness to go the extra mile.
- Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills, team player
- Ability to communicate with various levels of management
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
