Position Description

Tacoma Power's Power Management division is looking for a Conservation Program Manager to join their team. The Conservation Program Manager plays an integral role in the development, marketing and implementation of new customer energy programs. The position requires technical and program management expertise, good organizational skills, superior collaboration and communication skills and the ability to think strategically. This position's primary responsibility will be the management and implementation of new and existing renewable energy programs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage implementation of customer energy programs including Tacoma Power's voluntary Evergreen Options program and tree coupon program

  • Development of strategic plans

  • Development and tracking of performance metrics

  • Implementation of marketing strategies, including collaborating with other staff in Power Management and other departments on the development of programmatic or educational materials, web content, marketing messaging and survey development and implementation

  • Collaboration with City of Tacoma and other program partners

  • Manage Distributed Energy Resources customers installing products with interconnection to Tacoma Power's grid

  • Review and approval of customer applications for net metering interconnection, fielding customer questions and resolving billing inconsistencies related to net metering

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on solar PV projects on multi-family properties, schools and commercial businesses - coordinate responses to inquiries from vendors, building owner's and customers with TPU Account Executives

  • Serves as Technical Lead and project manager on Low-income community solar projects

  • Cross-functional liaison with other departments toe ensure consistent processes and ensuring data accuracy and consistency in reporting methods across TPU, aligning units of measurement, locating missing information

Qualifications

An equivalent combination to:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in energy management, business or public administration, planning or a related field AND

  • Four years of experience in energy services development, marketing, delivery or management

    Working knowledge of solar PV, battery backups and other renewable energy systems desired;

    LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    Valid Washington State Drivers License at time of appointment with maintenance thereafter

Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.

Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
