We are currently seeking a determined and dynamic Data Engineer.

Position Overview:

The Data Engineer will work within the Enterprises Business Intelligence organization and be responsible for the maintenance, improvement, and movement of data for the greater enterprise. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. Support Brinks Home business data analytic professionals on data initiatives. Ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. Must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

What you'll do:

• Live and lead by Brinks Home values and behaviors.
• Participate in building Cloud Data Warehouse, Data as a Service, Business Intelligence Solutions using Azure Stack (Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory & Azure Databricks)
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing workflow for greater scalability, etc.
• Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
• Deliver a quality Product independently.
• Clearly communicate technical details to business and leadership.
• Coding and reviewing complex Spark (Scala or Python) and T-SQL.

What you bring to the table:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
• 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role
• 1+ years of experience in Scala or Python, SQL -- Required.
• 1+ years of experience in Unified Data Analytics with Databricks, Databricks Workspace User Interface, Managing Databricks Notebooks, Delta Lake with Python, Delta Lake with Spark SQL – Required.
• Hands-on experience in Azure stack (Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks) – Required.
• Expertise in Spark Data Frames to ingest and manipulate data, including exploring, preprocessing, joining, filtering, sorting, partitioning, and renaming/manipulating columns in the dataset – Required.
• Proficient with Source code version control system (GitHub / TFS) – Required.
• Good Understanding of Data Lake house architecture and Data warehousing concepts
• Experience in Data Movement (Apache Spark, plus Azure Data Factory)
• Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines and data sets.
• Team player or Individual contributor.
• Good Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for Build and Release processes.

Competencies:

• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
• A successful history of manipulating and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.
• Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
