Senior Software Engineer

The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances software systems based upon documented requirements. In addition, the Software Engineer reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Ten+ (10+) years of demonstrated SWE experience required
  • A Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
  • Develop data queries / data interfaces for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confer with users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigate problem areas
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project.
  • Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project
  • Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
  • Current TS/SCI w/polygraph clearance

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
  • Experience with Agile Software Development
  • Understanding of basic design principles and tools of software design
  • Knowledge of one or more software design patterns
  • Knowledge of one or more server side software languages (Java , C++, Ruby, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of JUnit, RESTful Web Services, JMS, Spring, Hibernate, Hadoop (and associated tools)
  • Basic knowledge of one or more scripting languages (i.e.Perl, Bash Shell, Bourne Shell, C Shell, etc.)
  • Experience with one or more application servers such as Apache Tomcat,WebLogic, JBoss
  • Experience with one or more code building tools such as Maven, Ant, Make
  • Experience with one or more code version control frameworks such as SVN, GIT, CVS, Mercurial, ClearCase
  • Experience with data formats such as XML, JSON and associated APIs
  • Database experience with one or more of the following: Oracle, Sybase, Solr, ElasticSearch, MongoDB
  • Experience with one or more IDEs (Eclipse, NetBeans, IntelliJ)
