Grill Cook

Hungry Bear Cafe / Neher Enterprises in Groveland, CA is looking for a grill cook to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and hard-working.

As an employee with us you will make at least $14 per hour (more with other duties) in addition to that you are guaranteed to make at least $4 per hour in shared tips. If you do not make that much in tips we will pay the difference. Combined you will make AT LEAST $18 PER HOUR GUARANTEED.

Description

We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals according to menu. You will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our customer base through fantastic food and absolutely terrific customer service.

Duties and responsibilities

• Ensure prep for each station is done to the quantity established by the Kitchen Lead.
• Put effort in optimizing the cooking process with attention to speed and quality
• Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
• Answer, report and follow Kitchen Team Leader’s instructions
• Use all daily, weekly, monthly checklists
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Assist with all cleaning duties and dishes as needed or assigned
• Stock inventory appropriately/put orders away quickly and efficiently
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with customers
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served and plated as expected by the Team Leader.
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Promptly report safety, equipment and food quality problems to manager

Qualifications & Requirements

• Proven experience as cook
• Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Ability to follow all safety and sanitation procedures
• Ability to work as a team and alone
• Very good communication skills
• High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage
• Have exceptional grooming and hygiene habits.

Working conditions

• Must be able to work in hot conditions for extended periods of time (80-100 degrees)
• Must be able to work in cold conditions for short periods of time (10-40 degrees)
• Must be able to safely work around chemicals commonly used in restaurant and kitchen environments

Physical requirements

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while working (2-6hours at a time)
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Frequent bending, turning, shifting, kneeling walking and lifting of common kitchen items will be required throughout each shift.
• Must be able to work around all common foods including but not limited to fruits, nuts, raw meats and shell fish that would commonly be found in a restaurant kitchen environment

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $18.00 - $22.00/hour.
