Billing Specialist

The Staff Pad is looking for a Billing Specialist to join a growing law firm St. Louis, Missouri!

What you’ll do:

Comply with firm values.
Generate a high volume of bills per month based on a team of timekeepers.
Prepare for monthly billing process to include managing paperless prebills, performing additions or edits as needed, reconciling over and under realizations and sending bills out.
Working knowledge of client billing guidelines for compliance with those client guidelines and firm policies and procedures.
Responsible for verifying accuracy of billings and provide supporting documentation when necessary.
Research and respond to inquiries regarding client billings.
Effectively communicate with internal and external clients on billing inquiries.
Create billing reports and spreadsheets for analysis by firm management.
Prepare matters for the final billing process.
Collaborate and suggest efficiencies and improvements in billing processes.
Submit Ebilled invoices and partner with the
Ebilling Specialist in resolving rejections and submission issues.
Assist Managers with assigned special projects.

You should have:

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentInterpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff in person, by email and telephone to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
Analytical skills necessary in order to review billings and make edits in compliance with billing policies.
Ability to input data into accounting software with a minimum of 60 wpm keyboarding skills.
Ability to read in order to proof and perform minor editing to prebills.
Perform arithmetic calculations in preparation of billing prebills.
Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to operate standard office equipment including personal computer, copier, facsimile, and telephone.
Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing a high volume of clerical tasks and performing other essential duties.
One year of billing or accounting experience or new college graduate with business or accounting degree.
Professional service firm experience preferred.
Knowledge of billing software.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration/Management with an emphasis in accounting.
Knowledge of basic accounting and billing principles
