LyondellBasell is staffing for an Olefins Production Engineer at the Channelview, TX Manufacturing Complex, located 18 miles from downtown Houston. Our 4,000-acre Channelview Complex consists of two Olefins units in the north side of the facility that manufacture ethylene, propylene, butadiene and benzene. The south side facility uses many of these products to produce propylene oxide, styrene monomer and other derivatives.
This role will provide daily monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization of an operating area to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, reliable operation, while maximizing on stream time and profitability.

This role will provide daily monitoring, troubleshooting and optimization of an operating area to ensure safe, environmentally compliant, reliable operation, while maximizing on stream time and profitability.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify, recommend, document, and implement initiatives to improve unit performance, with the goal to increase production or lower energy usage, at the lowest cost
- Works with Operations and other technical groups to address production constraints
- Develops and communicates unit performance and improvement strategies to stakeholders
- Supports gap closure and continuous improvement activities by providing engineering bases and justification for new projects in the 5-year capital long-range plan, as well as participating in capital, expense, and special project scope development, execution, and support.
- Determines causes of deviations in quality, capacity, yield, and energy consumption
- Evaluation of off-spec feedstock and opportunity feeds
- Leads Management of Change process
- Provides technical expertise for PHAs, PSVs, Safety System Disablement, and other Process Safety activities in the area
- Provides unit support during troubleshooting, turnarounds, startups, shutdowns, catalyst changes, and other non-routing unit activities
- Provides engineering calculations to quantity environmental releases
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering
- 5 or more years of Production/Process experience in refining or petrochemical plants
- Technical understanding of unit processes and application of unit operations principals such as mass and energy balances, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, mass and heat transfer and distillation
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate with others to solve problems
- Good verbal and written communication skills
