Buyer planner
Direct Hire opportunity for a Buyer/Planner located in Valencia CA for an Aerospace company.
Ideal candidate will be responsible for managing company’s vendor relationships, issuing and tracking purchaser orders, ensuring that required material/supplies/tools is supplied to the production floor, as according to the production schedule
As a Buyer/Planner you will:
- Plans and manages production schedules to ensure 100% on-time delivery of all customer orders
- Order materials, tools and supplies
- Order floor stock with shelf-life material for production
- Establish quality-oriented supplier relationships and develop measurable performance standards with Quality Assurance, against which supplier(s) will be evaluated.
- Monitor capability of suppliers to satisfy expectations of on-time delivery, quality, service, and price commitments. (Including, but not limited to, the understanding of cost impact).
- Request quotes; negotiate purchase terms, delivery schedules, and performance measurement with suppliers.
- Obtain, analyze and interpret supply chain relevant data, improve supply chain processes, performance and to reduce costs.
- Coordinate with other departments on order status and production planning issues
- Assist in identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies.
- Visit supplier to establish relationship, deliver, pick up orders as needed.
You will need the following to succeed:
- 4-year degree preferred; CPIM preferred.
- 1 to 3-year experience in aerospace manufacturing environment (machine shop preferred)
- Experience with purchasing, expediting, MRP/ ERP systems, quality/continuous improvement initiatives, manufacturing safety practices and MS Office applications
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Strong negotiating skills
- Solid analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Self-motivated, detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, and act decisively
