Quality Supervisor, D Shift - GFNY

Role: Quality Supervisor, D Shift (nights)

We are seeking an energetic, team-oriented people-person to be responsible for the performance of Quality Technicians and Inspectors on various shifts at Gigafactory Buffalo. The Quality Supervisor will manage a team of Technicians and Inspectors to ensure they perform at a high level while meeting the needs of the production floor and product quality. The individual will be responsible for Quality Assurance related metrics for their shift. The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for performance managing their team to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability.

Shift Schedule: D Shift, 7PM - 7AM, every other Wednesday and every Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Responsibilities:

  • Guide and coordinate Technicians and Inspectors on shift, taking primary ownership for their training and ability to maintain conformance to quality procedures and specifications.

  • Guide and coordinate training efforts on the production floor to ensure manufacturing procedures are being maintained.

  • Interact with the manufacturing team members to determine shift priorities and allocation of labor

  • Drive improvement activities across the shift to increase team knowledge and capability

  • Support Quality Assurance/Quality Control initiatives.

  • Improve quality in module and electronics manufacturing.

  • Align with Quality engineering team to disposition material and drive to eliminate scrap and areas of low yield

  • Adhere to strict 5S standards and maintain cleanliness on the floor and within automation cells

  • Observe all safety policies during the execution of required tasks.

  • Complete requested activities as assigned.

  • Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and written/verbal instructions.

  • Required to work with and around hazardous areas.

  • Maintain quality performance metrics and drive issues to root cause solutions.

  • Audit manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Provide coaching and training to technicians, trainers, and inspectors.

  • Define goals and performance metrics.

Requirements:

  • Available to work night shift 7PM-7AM

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with evidence of exceptional ability.

  • Applicable documented Training and/or Certifications a plus.

  • Must have understanding of general manufacturing processes, Quality methodologies, and team leadership.

  • Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, and desire to learn and teach.

  • Must be adaptable to flexible work schedule (including compressed work week and night shift).

  • Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization.

  • Capable of providing constructive feedback to subordinates.

  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.

  • Multitasks and adapts to constant change.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required.

  • Able to wear all required PPE associated with required tasks.

  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 12+ hours per day, wear air purifying respirator as needed for specific tasks, Lift at least 10 -20 lbs on a regular basis, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and sometimes may have to twist and bend body, Ability to climb ladders/stairs, work in loud environment. Ability to discern audible alarms, be able to distinguish colors and possess accurate depth perception.

  • Strong aptitude with electronic and mechanic test and measurements systems.

  • Proficiency at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams.

  • Ability to use technological tools such as touch screen displays, and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data.

  • Prefer experience with quality methods/analysis, familiarity with process control/charts, defect identification and analysis, SPC, FMEA.
