This position is open to local applicants within Metro Detroit, MI area only. The job will sit at the Plymouth location and relocation benefits will not be offered.

Job Description

Product Quality Software Engineer will represent the company's interests for quality assurance topics in customer development project by driving review of quality assurance topics from early development and application through product launch and series production.

EPQ is a part of the project development team and support System & Software Project Quality with the selection/tailoring of the project specific quality processes, the quality planning and the communication of quality-relevant topics to customers and suppliers.

As quality process expert, you will support the software team in planning and tracking the preventive quality assurance measures in development projects and activities, and is actively informed about the development activities. In this position, system testing is separate from quality assurance. We are not looking for a system tester.

Being organizationally independent, will provide an objective and fact based evaluation of the product maturity, the SW quality status (4-eye principle) and supports the project leader in the identification, visualization and communication of risks and opportunities.

Occasional travel to Bosch manufacturing and customer locations (10-15%).

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead in determination of the product quality assurance strategy within development projects.

  • Drive the use of correct quality methods and processes within product development.

  • Conduct independent evaluations of product and process development towards final product maturity for project reporting.

  • Identify and manage quality risks before they become issues with support of cross-functional teams.

  • Participate as key member of product development team to ensure overall success of the product launch and production

  • Attend customer and internal program meetings, report status of quality deliverables and escalate as necessary.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering.

  • 0-2 years experience in an automotive product role (design, manufacturing), working within a cross-functional team, supporting customers, both internal and external.

  • 0-2 years of experience in project management (project planning and tracking, risk management).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSME or BSEE or degree in Software design / Computer Science.

  • Experience with Bosch Engineering and Business processes.

  • 2+ years of experience in software development and software quality assurance, with creating reports, generating and tracking status of software quality metrics (not number of defects) .

  • Strong communication, negotiation and team moderation skills and ability to manage time and workload constraints.

  • Capable of effectively communicating to various areas of the organization.

  • Good understanding of Software QA methodologies, tools and processes.

  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and program management skill.

  • Knowledge with QAC, Bauhaus, Coverty as well as Doors and RTC

  • software coding practices/knowledge.

  • Well-grounded knowledge in application of quality methods and problem solving tools (8D, Six Sigma, FMEA, FTA, DRBFM, 3x5 Why's, Ishikawa).

  • Knowledge of process reference models (eg. ASPICE, CMMI).

  • Fluent foreign Language.
