Catamaran Resort Hotel Spa
The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa is a Polynesian-themed destination located on the shores of Mission Bay and mere steps from San Diego's famous Pacific Beach. The resort features 310 rooms and suites, lush tropical gardens, and award-winning dining at Oceana Coastal Kitchen.

The following position will be filled in accordance with the process set forth in California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.

SUMMARY

The Sales Manager ("Gerente de Ventas") solicits, negotiates and books new and repeat group business through outside sales calls to maximize room revenue for the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa and the Bahia Resort Hotel on Mission Bay. Specializing in a particular region or market, individuals in this position must be dynamic, well-rounded, team players with exceptional communication, writing, and telephone skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Notifies/coordinates customer specifications with other departments and quickly, efficiently responds to customer issues, comments and problems to ensure a quality experience and enhance future sales prospects.

  • Analyzes historical, current and future hotel/market trends and creates selling strategies to capture the maximum amount of revenue and meet/exceed sales goals.

  • Develops and continually enhances relationships with key corporate, business and travel industry accounts to maintain and increase our market share.

  • Maintains accurate, legible records and files to provide group history, ensures future and current quality service and enhance prospects.

  • Participates in trade shows and community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and the achievement of sales and revenue goals.

  • Delivers excellent customer service in an efficient manner.

  • Proactively solicits market segment for opportunities, logs activities in IVvy to support proactive effort.

  • Generates requests for proposals and contracts and manages efforts to secure business for specific market segment.

  • Negotiates contracts ensuring all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and actively up-sells each business opportunity to maximize hotel profit.

  • Contacts executives of organizations to explain services and facilities offered by hotel and to solicit their business. Creates action plans, to successfully meet the market booking goal.

  • Conducts accurate and timely reporting according to weekly, monthly and annual deadlines.

  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.


Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple interests.

  • Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.

  • Competency using a variety of computer application software.

  • Previous similar position in top-quality restaurant or hotel is preferred.

  • Experience in dealing with the public is preferred, such as retail cashier, food industry service, guest service with public contacts, etc.

  • Ability to maintain a friendly, team-oriented, positive attitude and a professional appearance at all times.

  • Ability to be poised under pressure with continued smiles, and maintain a highly diplomatic attitude with challenging guests and under stressful circumstances.
