Material Handler / Forklift

Responsibility Level:
Primary responsibility is to deliver productive material in an effort to support the assembly process. Under the direction of the Supervisor, this employee will maintain adequate levels of inventory to sustain the assembly process.
Principal Duties:
" Reviews Daily customer orders as it pertains to material delivery from the Warehouse. i.e Kitting, batching, Kanban etc.
" Maintains adequate inventory levels (line-side) in an effort to support the assembly process
" Identifies overstocking, material shortages, discrepant material, scrap, quality concerns etc.
" Contacts appropriate members of Management in an effort to consciously identify potential problems/ concerns as it pertains to their specific job requirements
" Enters data into Material Database via computer, scanner or other electronic devices as required
" Operates machinery pertinent to completing the tasks at hand. i.e. Forklift, Tugger, Pallet Jack
" Suggests continual Improvement opportunities while performing various tasks within the plant.
" Performs audits, visual inspections, verifications, cycle counts as required by management
" Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to material handling
" Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
" Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
" Other duties as required
Requirements:
HS Diploma or general education degree (GED); 6 months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Strong Customer Service skills required; very good communications skills.
Hold a Forklift Certification, or obtain a certification within a two time allowance of testing all within the first month of starting position.

" Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, industrial/manufacturing environment with some exposure to non-toxic irritants
" Ability to work with machinery and moving parts
" Ability to operate crane, truck, motor vehicles
" Ability to work with moving vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding
" Ability to work at heights
" Ability to properly lift/carry/push/pull/manipulate/transport up to 25 lbs.
" Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and frequently lift up to 40 lbs
" Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
" Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists
" The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface
" Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, reaching, or similar activities
" Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in the English Language
" Must have the physical strength and ability to frequently work more than 40 hours weekly
Ability to operate all job necessary equipment including moving vehicles in a safe manner. Persons under the influence of illegal drugs, alcohol or a prescribed medication which has a prescription warning to not operate machinery or drive a moving vehicle, shall not be considered as having the ability to operate the necessary equipment in a safe manner.
