Senior Software Engineer II, Security Engineering

EverQuote, a leader in insurance tech and largest online insurance marketplace, is seeking to hire a Senior Software Engineer II who has experience with AWS cloud technologies, software engineering, access management, and ideally experienced in modern security tools.

As a member of the Security Team at EverQuote, you play a significant role in helping to keep EverQuote's systems and data safe, as well as working to meet various government and contractual requirements. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing systems for security event collection, retention, and automated alerting. Your designs will integrate with a large number of security tools and internal data management systems. You will be joining a small security team of highly experienced engineering and security professionals who find creative, solid solutions, working and learning from each other. As part of this team, you will assist in educating engineers throughout the organization as well as reviewing architectural designs and threat models and performing incident response activities.

About you:

• 5+ years of professional programing experience
• Experience with AWS Cloud, especially IAM roles and permissions
• Experience with two or more scripting languages
• You are passionate about sharing knowledge and mentoring teammates
• You are able to create designs and communicate those designs to stakeholders
• You understand that building software systems require planning for how it will continue to function and be maintained
• You understand that there are always trade-offs between the security and availability of data
• You appreciate the insights you can get from collecting and analyzing data
• You have worked with security products, and have always thought of ways on how those products could have been better

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Python (Go and JavaScript a plus)
• Basic SQL knowledge
• Experience building data pipelines and ETL systems
• Experience with Okta or other identity provider
• Experience designing API's
• Have written code that handles authentication via SAML, OIDC or OAuth2
• Have worked with encryption technologies
• Experience with BOTO3 and AWS Cloud technologies
• AWS IAM experience
• Active Directory or LDAP experience
• Experience writing and reviewing Threat Models
• Kubernetes experience is a plus
• Must be a US resident
