In order to effectively build scalable visual platform capabilities for initial stores, our Retail Operations Facilities serve as a testing site for many cross-functional teams, and we are seeking a leader to manage operations at both facilities.

The Senior Manager of Retail Operations Facilities will directly support the Visual Merchandising team as Wayfair expands into physical retail. This key leadership position is based in Massachusetts and the person in this role will be responsible for supporting team members at two locations south of Boston. This role is a critical part of the broader Wayfair Physical Retail Visual Merchandising team that will help craft the playbook to provide our customers with a best-in-class experience at our new retail locations in North America across all five Wayfair brands (Wayfair, All Modern, Birch Lane, Joss & Main, Perigold).

What Youll Do

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all facility/warehouse operations and ensure outlined processes for receiving & inventory management are adhered to as outlined by key Supply Chain partners
  • Ensure adequate inventory management of furniture and cash & carry products in accordance with inventory cycles, and develop inventory control procedures
  • Act as primary point of contact for both facilities and responsible for providing clear, concise communications, reporting and analysis to key cross-functional partners at all levels, including: Store Operations, Finance, Merchandising, Store Design, IT Support and Supply Chain, among others
  • Coordinate and manage delivery logistics (product samples, fixtures, presentation assets, etc.), support overall assortment management and product flow strategy and facilitate all training and functional testing needs as requested by cross-functional teams
  • Develop delivery, receiving and inventory management key performance indicators (KPIs) and update and implement SOPs both internally and with external vendors as required
  • Aid in ongoing process and procedure improvement exercises to drive efficiencies at both facilities, support cross-functional partners to find solutions to challenges based on root cause and ensure available resources are being utilized effectively
  • Assist with all calendarization needs for core location, including managing Google Calendars, reviewing visitor requests, supporting cross-functional team testing needs and supporting key event dates tied to the Visual Merchandising strategy execution
  • Lead and support ongoing project management needs ensuring that all participating cross-functional teams are both informed and involved as needed and that deliverables are on-time and recaps are shared with appropriate partners
  • Maintain and update the department budget (specific to the two warehouse locations) and support execution and submission of purchase orders, invoices, etc.
  • Effectively manage temporary staffing needs in support of key events, high-volume product delivery periods and onsite marketing activities

Management responsibilities:

  • Provide overall operational direction to and manage onsite Site Facilities Managers and associated facility needs (i.e. supplies, restrooms, furniture, technology support, vendor contracts) for two different locations (three total team members)
  • Inspire the team to innovate and problem solve, creating a culture of continuous improvement and growth
  • Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with each team member to discuss past challenges, potential issues, and future goals
  • Hold daily huddles with the team to communicate daily priorities, to provide business updates and promote the team building

Who are we looking for

We are looking for individuals who have a proven track record in owning and driving major businesses/initiatives, managing teams and developing functions in environments such as:

  • E-Commerce
  • Inventory Planning & In Stock Management
  • Purchasing & Supply Chain
  • Retail

Communication is key and you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced technology and data-driven business environment.

Who you are

  • Sufficient leadership experience proven ability to lead a team and innovate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • High level of comfortability using Google Suite, Excel and Slack
  • Strong communication & persuasion skills to collaborate with our many cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • Strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Degree-level qualification in business or a related field
  • Experience in a Retail Warehouse environment, Inventory Planning, or Supply Chain is preferred
