Okland is now seeking an experienced Assistant Equipment and Fleet Manager to join our team.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for supporting field operations by helping oversee the equipment rental department and physical facilities of Okland Construction. Helps oversee the purchasing, inspection, maintenance, inventory, personal property tax, tracking, billing, rental charges, and retirement for all Okland-owned equipment (including vehicles). Helps to generate maximum rental revenue by renting equipment and materials to the individual Okland Construction job sites.

Helps oversee the purchasing, inspection, maintenance, inventory, personal property tax, tracking, billing, rental charges, and retirement for all Okland-owned equipment (including vehicles). Helps to generate maximum rental revenue by renting equipment and materials to the individual Okland Construction job sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Register company fleet vehicles and distribute to drivers
- Calculate and pay annual personal property taxes for Okland-owned equipment.
- Set up new equipment in the company's software system.
- Help maintain DOT compliance and attend the annual DOT compliance meeting.
- Oversee the safety of the equipment department.
- Conduct annual company-wide equipment inventory count.
- Monitor and recommend adjustment to equipment usage rates to remain competitive with the market.
- Encourage use of Okland-owned equipment by communicating with the superintendents and project managers to meet project needs.
- Assist in purchasing or renting equipment as needed by jobs.
- Maintain a good working relationship with local equipment rental companies and other suppliers.
- Coordinate with yard personnel and mechanics to ensure the equipment is properly functioning prior to job-site delivery and is maintained while on site.
- Manage company GPS tracking system.
- Work with the Yard Manager to ensure prompt delivery and removal of equipment.
- Help oversee the maintenance of the physical facilities of Okland Construction.
- Attend and participate in the daily department meeting at the warehouse.
- Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help manage overall equipment rental systems, making improvements and changes as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or similar field and 2 years experience in management.
- Construction and/or equipment management work experience preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must maintain a valid US driver license with clean driving record.
- Must maintain a current DOT medical card.
- Must be comfortable driving vehicles up to 26,000#.
- Forklift certification is required.
- Aerial lift certification is required.
- 30-hour OSHA class completion is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to manage and analyze large amounts of data.
- Possesses strong accounting skills.
- Advanced working knowledge of computers and email.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to effectively communicate with and manage all types of people, such as employees, customers, subcontractors, etc.
