Primary Responsibilities:

  • Architecture tasks including data analysis, data models, reverse engineering, and performance optimization
  • Design, develop, unit test and maintain ETL jobs to create or enhance data warehouses/marts
  • Lead data extraction and SSRS report development efforts supporting Optum FL and Ad Hoc, Network and Provider Operations requests
  • Identify test solutions for small to medium size projects and create test strategy/test plans, as well as support defect/issue resolution and retesting
  • Deploy and test code from lower environments to production
  • Build, maintain and/or adhere to a structured data governance process to be used across all datasets with a focus on quality and accuracy
  • Document technical specifications, data models, process flows, etc.
  • Identify improvement areas and propose solutions for the same
  • Collaborate with delivery and technical team members on design and development activities within Agile/Scrum teams
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand business processes, standard release management requirements, and underlying data and reporting need
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly and solve problems
  • Proactive thinker, self-driven, great team player, and drive innovation
  • Mentor or lead a small team of developers as needed
  • Investigate data anomalies to determine root cause, specify appropriate changes and work with engineering and operations teams as the change is implemented and tested
  • Research client questions on data results by identifying underlying data elements leveraged and providing descriptions of data transformations involved
  • Participate in the ongoing innovation, testing and use of tools used by the team to improve processes and bring scale

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL. Must be hands on with SQL/TSQL/BI/Intelligence studio, SSRS, SSIS and ETL
  • 5+ years of experience communicating with senior level business leaders and stakeholders
  • 5+ years of experience with data warehouses/marts, relational database architecture, design and development
  • 4+ years of intermediate to advanced SQL experience, PowerShell experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with healthcare data (HL7 v2, CCDs, 835s, 837s, claims from variety of payers etc.) sent as either Flat files/JSON/XML etc
  • Hands-on knowledge of SQL database administration, performance tuning, script / package building, deployment methodologies and source control tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or other related field in technology
  • Experience developing within an agile (i.e. Scrum or Kanban) framework
  • Experience coordinating with offshore team
  • Healthcare domain knowledge, Clinical or medical data analysis or management experience
  • Familiarity or experience working with AWS/Azure on Cloud or Big Data concepts
  • Solid soft skills (e.g. communication, interpersonal, collaborative, resilient).
