Kelly Engineering is currently seeking an experienced Process Automation Engineer in Seadrift, Texas!
The Process Automation Engineer role exists to complete development of the application code for each project using the DPA work processes.
The PA Engineer is a member of the Project Team. He or she will work as a technical resource under the direction of the Process Automation Lead to complete the deliverables associated with the ABB800xA control application code. The application will be developed by applying the tools, work processes, and project methodology for migration projects effectively and consistently to maximize leveraging and ensure success of each project. The Process Automation engineer will be involved in all three phases of projects; 1) front end loading (i.e. early project planning, FEL / FEED), 2) detailed design and construction, and 3) commissioning and startup. The individual will have responsibility to feedback challenges and learnings to the PA Lead to facilitate continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Complete the migration of the existing Platforms (Modicon, Foxboro, Yokogawa) to ABB800xA code, following the Migration work process, under the direction of the PA Lead.
- Consider safety to be the most important responsibility – both personal safety and incorporation of process safety into the control application.
- Work with operations to understand details of how the process currently runs.
- Conduct reviews of FRS/DDS with operations, to ensure that the existing platform has been captured correctly.
- Complete the re-engineering work process to modify the control strategy for implementation in the commercial DCS. Incorporate required control strategy modifications as agreed with operations and business leadership.
- Conduct reviews of FRS/DDS with operations, to ensure that the FRS/DDS accurately reflect the way the new control code is to be written.
- Complete the control application code, incorporating the finishing details into the code generated by the forward engineering tools.
- Develop simulation code to adequately test the new control logic and train operations.
- Develop graphics.
- Complete checkout of the new control application in simulation. Document checkout results in the check sheets supplied by the migration program.
- Review simulation code with operations.
- Train the operations resources identified so that they can train the operators.
- Be present for operator training as needed to manipulate simulation, answer questions, etc., in support of the operations resources who are conducting the training sessions.
- Provide startup coverage to help troubleshoot any issues with the new application. Be available to answer questions from operations as needed.
- Update to the application as needed to address issues identified during startup. Document all changes in the change log. Provide the change log as input to the Management of Change document (MOC) that will be circulated by operations.
